42nd Street faces many problems with its storyline and may be in danger of becoming anachronistic and irrelevant to a generation who has never experienced the Great Depression. Nevertheless, it still remains an iconic classic musical and it was responsible in reviving the musical genre in 1933. Despite its important role, I still have my reservations about calling 42nd Street a musical. This and more can be found in my review.
